The book aims to concentrate on the range of health problems encountered in Egypt and Nubia and where possible indications of the effects on daily life are given. A specific chapter on doctors and treatment has not been included; this subject will be more fully treated in John Nunn’s forthcoming book (in press at the time of writing). Whilst providing an overview of current knowledge about the health of the ancient Egyptians and Nubians this book also offers the opportunity to examine some new material from recent excavations in Egypt and those undertaken by the Sudan Archaeological Research Society.
