Implant Failure for SCFE – How to avoid it?

Eduardo Novais  |   October 17, 2018  |   10:27

Global HELP and COTI presents Dr. Eduardo Novais, MD, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Boston Children’s Hospital. He discusses implaint failure for slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) due to broken screw as well as cases of progressive SCFE despite screw fixation. Strategies are discussed for how to remove broken screws and resolve unstable SCFE placement. A hypothesis indicating the involvement of the epiphyseal tubercle is given to explain instability of SCFE.
